OBX Weekend Movie Update – May 4, 2012
The summer blockbuster season officially begins this weekend with the arrival of the superhero epic The Avengers – featuring Marvel all-stars Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk – opening Friday nationwide, while The Three Stooges take over the Pioneer Theatre.

From the creators of There’s Something About Mary, the rebooted Three Stooges (rated PG) starts Friday, May 4th at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo.

The 2012 summer movie season officially kicks off this week with the North American theatrical release of The Avengers (rated PG13), opening Friday at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills and Hatteras Movies 4 in Avon.
The much anticipated comic book adaptation is the culmination of the story started in Iron Man (2008) and continued through The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), last year’s Thor, and most recently Captain America: The First Avenger.

The Avengers was already in production when Disney purchased the comic book giant Marvel in 2009.
The first Marvel film under the new Disney ownership will be Iron Man 3 – which is set to begin filming this month in Wilmington, NC for a May 3, 2013 release.
