Icons of Horror Descend on Virginia Beach!

Three of the biggest horror icons of all time will join over 40 other celebrity guests at the first ever Blood on the Beach Convention, April 20-22 in Virginia Beach, making this innaugural event a dream come true for fans of the genre who have never before had such an opportunity come this close to home.

Modern horror movies started with Alfred Hitchcock’s revolutionary masterpiece Psycho, which turned star Janet Leigh into the genre’s first official ‘scream queen’ following the most famous shower scene ever filmed. When director John Carpenter rebooted what Hitchcock started with his own 1978 classic Halloween, it was Leigh’s daughter Jamie Lee Curtis who inherited the thrown forged by her mother, after defeating the masked killer Michael Myers in the original film and its sequel (not to mention other genre favorites like The Fog, Terror Train, and Prom Night).

A new scream queen for a new generation was handed the bloody crown in 1988 when the world was introduced to a then 11-year-old Danielle Harris in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. You can view the original trailer in the player below!

After reprising her role (as the daughter of Curtis’ character) in the 1989 sequel Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, Harris would later return the franchise to star as different character in director Rob Zombie’s 2007 Halloween remake and its own 2009 sequel, meaning she is now tied with Jamie Lee Curtis, both having appeared in a total of four Halloween films.

In addition to facing Michael Myers, Harris starred in seven episodes of the hit sitcom Roseanne and co-starred in a number of Hollywood hits, including Marked for Death, Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, City Slickers, The Last Boy Scout, Free Willy, and Daylight, but it’s her numerous entries into the horror film genre that have solidified her status as the (still) reigning Scream Queen.

In the last decade and a half, in addition to the Zombie Halloween films, Danielle Harris starred in such genre favorites as Urban Legend, Stake Land, Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2, and the 2010 gorefest Hatchet II, which brought Halloween‘s most loyal franchise icon together with two other all-time heroes of horror, both of which will be joining her at Blood on the Beach.

In the wake of Carpenter’s Halloween, the ‘slasher’ subgenre of movies was born, and the most successful and perhaps most terrifying of all those to come was easily Friday the 13th and it’s unkillable ghost of Camp Crystal Lake, the hockey mask wearing Jason Voorhees.

Kane Hodder has worn Jason’s hockey mask in four of the franchise’s 12 films, more than any other actor in history, starting with Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood and followed by the next three sequels in the series.

Kane Hodder will be signing copies of his new book Unmasked at Blood on the Beach.

In addition to his work behind the infamous mask, Hodder has also appeared in many mainstream movies as both actor and stunt coordinator, including Daredevil with Ben Affleck and Monster with Charlize Theron, but his loyalty to the genre that made him a star has earned him a legion of fans.

Most recently Kane Hodder embodied a new terrifying face of horror as the deformed and brutal Victor Crowley in director Adam Green’s 2006 throwback slasher Hatchet and it’s 2010 sequel – co-starring Danielle Harris and another actor recognized best as the undying killer he gave life to, known simply as ‘Candyman’.

Tony Todd was recently revealed as the final guest announced for Blood on the Beach, to the delight of fans who have followed his impressive career from his earliest apearances in classics like Platoon, Colors, Lean on Me, The Rock, and The Crow (filmed in North Carolina) through his defining role as the title character in the Candyman trilogy.

Ever since the original Candyman was released in 1992, Todd has been a member of the horror community’s elite, having gone on to also star in numerous more genre hits like Wishmaster, Final Destination (and three sequels), and as Reverend Zombie in the Hatchet films mentioned above, with Hodder and Harris. He also fittingly voiced the manacing villain known as ‘The Fallen’ in the 2009 sci-fi blockbuster Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen.

Danielle Harris, Kane Hodder, and Tony Todd are each unanimously recognized as horror royalty, but these three legendary icons are just some of the special guests scheduled to be at Blood on the Beach, and OBX Entertainment is your exclusive source for local coverage.
