It’s Dr. Seuss against the ultimate house party and a heartwarming whale of a tale in local theaters this week. Here’s your Outer Banks movie update for the weekend of March 2, 2012!
Opening at The Pioneer Theatre in Manteo is the uplifting family adventure Big Miracle (rated PG), starring Drew Barrymore (E.T.), John Krasinski (TV’s The Office), and Kristen Bell (Forgetting Sarah Marshall). You can watch a trailer in the player below!
Opening Friday at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills and likely to be this week’s biggest new release is Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (rated PG).
The animated family film stars the voice talents of Danny DeVito (Batman Returns), Zac Efron (High School Musical), Betty White (TV’s Golden Girls), and country music sensation Taylor Swift.

This week’s only other new release in local theaters is Project X (rated R), which promises the high school house party to end all house parties.
