Outer Banks Weekend Movie Update – Feb. 24, 2012
Real life Navy SEALS go up against a nudist colony, while one of literature’s most popular modern heroines makes her big screen debut this week. Here’s your Outer Banks movie update for the weekend of February 24, 2012!
Opening at The Pioneer Theatre in Manteo is the action comedy One for the Money (rated PG13) starring Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up, 27 Dresses), based on the first novel in the best selling Stephanie Plum book series written by Janet Evanovich. You can watch the official trailer below!
Showtime at the Pioneer is 8pm nightly.
At KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills, audiences will have no less than four new releases to choose from this weekend, headed up by the explosive Act of Valor (rated R), billed as “an unprecedented blend of real-life heroism and original filmmaking,” the film stars a group of active-duty U.S. Navy SEALs playing out a fictionalized account of what their real life SEAL operations are like.

Also opening Friday is the psychological thriller Gone (rated PG13) starring Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia, Red Riding Hood).
Actor, producer, writer Tyler Perry is back this week with his 11th directorial effort, Good Deeds (rated PG13), an uplifting romantic drama.
The comedy dream duo of current GQ cover models Paul Rudd (I Love You Man) and Jennifer Aniston (Horrible Bosses) round out the week’s new releases with Wanderlust (rated R). The pair first worked together in the 1998 film Object of My Affection, and later on Anistion’s former NBC sitcom Friends, when Rudd played Mike Hannigan, series regular Phoebe’s boyfriend and later husband.
The raucous comedy from director David Wain (Role Models) and producer Judd Apatow (Knocked Up) is about a couple who leaves the pressures of the big city and joins a freewheeling community of colorful nudists. Entertainment Weekly recently gave the film an “A-” grade.
For music enthusiasts, KDH Movies 10 is also hosting a one-day-only live presentation of Verdi’s Ernani as part of the sixth season of the Metropolitan Opera’s Peabody and Emmy Award-winning series “The Met: Live in HD.” Showtime for this broadcast concert is 12:55pm this Saturday, February, 25th.
