The first superhero movie of 2012 rides into town this weekend to do battle at the box office with a post-Valentine’s date night offering and an Oscar-nominated meditation on 9/11. Here’s your Outer Banks movie update for the weekend of February 17, 2012!
The Pioneer Theatre in Manteo is showing the recently announced Academy Award Nominee Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (rated PG13), starting February 17th through February 23rd. Showtimes are 8pm nightly. The film is nominated this year for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor (Max Von Sydow). Watch the official trailer below!
KDH Movies 10 has the year’s first comic book adaptation when the Marvel sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (rated PG13) roars into theaters starting Friday.
This week’s other new release is the romantic comedy This Means War (rated PG13), also showing at KDH Movies 10.
For music lovers, KDH Movies 10 is also hosting a special screening of LA Phil Live: Dudamel Conducts Mahler. In the concert film, Dudamel will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Simón Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, combined with multiple choirs and soloists in Mahler’s “Symphony of a Thousand” (No. 8), the apotheosis of the Romantic symphony.
