Easter Egg Hunting on the Outer Banks

It’s egg hunting season and numerous Easter celebrations are planned throughout the Outer Banks this year. Read on for information on three of the biggest and most popular annual holiday events on the beach!

Easter Egg Hunt - KDH 2011

First up this weekend is the annual Easter Eggstravaganza at the Dare County Family Recreation Park in Kill Devil Hills from 1:30pm to 4pm on Saturday, March 31st. Egg hunts begin at 2pm for three different age groups: 0-3, 4-6, and 7-10 year olds.

Other activities planned include tattoos, egg/spoon races, sack races, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. The park is located behind the Outer Banks Brewing Station at 602 South Mustian Street.

Egg hunting season begins!

Next weekend, Kitty Hawk Kites hosts its annual Fly Into Spring event from 10am to 4pm on April 6th and 7th at Jockey’s Ridge State Park in celebration of National Kite Month.

The kite festival will take place on both days, and the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head will host the Easter Egg Hunt which will ONLY be on Saturday, April 7th from 11am to 1pm.

 Easter Eggs need love too!

Nags Head’s Police Department will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1pm on Saturday, April 7th at Nags Head Town Park.

Two separate Easter egg hunts will be held for children between the ages of 1-5 and 6-10 years old. In addition, police, fire, and rescue personnel and equipment will be on scene to answer questions and perform child safety seat inspections. Children are asked to bring their own Easter egg basket. 

The Nags Head Town Park is located at 415 Health Center Drive, off of West Barnes Street.

All of these events are free.
