Christmas on the Outer Banks
The 29th Annual Outer Banks Hotline Festival of Trees will be held at the Ramada Plaza Nags Head Oceanfront, December 1 and 2, 2017, featuring the popular bazaar, jingle jam with Nature’s Child in concert, and the Monte Carlo-themed gala. CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS.
MANTEO CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING – Dec. 1
The Town of Manteo hosts it’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Pageant on the first Friday in December, with several local churches and businesses providing sweets, stew, and hot chocolate, as you warm yourself by the bonfire and enjoy the sites and sounds of local school children and local talent preforming on stage, joined by Santa Claus to light the town tree.
Children can visit with Santa after the pageant, upstairs inside the Dare County Arts Council gallery.
MANTEO CHRISTMAS PARADE – Dec. 2
The 46th Annual Little Town Christmas Parade in downtown Manteo takes place on Saturday, Dec. 2, beginning at Manteo High School at 10:30am.
OBXMAS PARTY AND SILENT AUCTION – Dec. 2-3
The 9th annual OBXmas party and silent auction is happening December 2-3 at the Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills, from 12 to 5pm both days.
The silent auction will be benefit Interfaith Community Outreach, a local organization helping local people, featuring a wide variety of awesome gift packages from local vendors and businesses. Over forty local artists will also be their selling their wares. There will also be special brunch and lunch menus available for ordering, with Mimosa and Bloody Mary specials too.
The 208th United States Army Band will perform a free Christmas concert on Saturday, December 2, in the Film Theatre at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo, beginning at 6pm. The event is free and open to the public. CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS.
Theatre of Dare teams up with Dare County Arts Council to present this original Christmas comedy production, with showtimes on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7:30pm; Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2pm; Friday and Saturday, Dec.8-9 at 7:30pm; and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2pm at the Arts Council gallery building in downtown Manteo. Santa Claus is coming to town, as kids are invited to come meet the big man in red at Kill Devil Hills Town Hall on Saturday, December 9, when Santa will be available for pictures from 4 to 5:30pm, also featuring cookies, sleigh rides, carolers, goodie bags for children, apple cider, hot chocolate, and the town’s own 26-foot high Christmas tree.

JOLLY HOLIDAY LOCAL ART MARKET – Dec. 2, 9, 16
Nags Head Pizza Company hosts the local art market on Saturdays in December, featuring a different area artists each weekend, happening on Dec. 2 from 12 to 4pm, Dec. 9 from 5 to 8pm, and Dec. 16 from 12 to 4pm.
Come stroll along enchanted garden paths and discover the joy of the season with holiday lights, sights, and sounds transforming The Elizabethan Gardens into an illuminated winter wonderland. The radiant glow of the gardens, traditional holiday décor and fantastical displays are a true spectacle to behold, as festive trees grace the Gatehouse and Reception Hall and a crackling open-air fire warms the Great Lawn. Seasonal gift shop and plant sales coincide.
Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for youth (ages 6-17), and $6 for children (ages 5 and under). This event is open Tuesdays through Saturdays in December, and Fridays and Saturdays in January, from November 25 through January 20. (Closed on Dec. 24, 25, 31, and Jan. 1). CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS.
