Weekend Movie Update – Dec. 14, 2018: Swing ‘Into the Spider-Verse’

Spider-Man is back in theaters this week, facing off against a world of gigantic moving cities and an 88-year-old drug smuggler.

Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of Dec. 14, 2018!

Marvel’s iconic web-slinging superhero is back in the standalone animated adventure Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (rated PG), in which Peter Parker mentors a new Spider-Man, as comic book favorite Miles Morales makes his feature film debut.

Into the Spider-Verse officially opens on Friday, playing locally at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with three early preview screenings scheduled for tonight (Thursday) at 5, 7, and 7:40pm.

Also new this week, the producers of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies present another epic spectacular with Mortal Engines (rated PG13), opening on Friday at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with an early preview screening tonight (Thursday) at 7:10pm.

Written and directed by (and starring) Clint Eastwood, the true story of an elderly man facing foreclosure who begins smuggling illegal drugs for a Mexican cartel, The Mule (rated R) opens on Friday, also playing locally at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills.

Looking ahead, next week’s movie update will arrive early, on Wednesday, Dec. 19, when Mary Poppins returns, followed by Aquaman and Blumblebee on Thursday, Dec. 20, setting up a wide array of options in theaters during the week of Christmas.
