Killer Dunes Charity Run Returns to Jockey’s Ridge July 4th

Posted By on June 27, 2018

The 13th Annual Killer Dunes 2-Miler and Fun Run benefit returns to Jockey’s Ridge State Park in Nags Head on the morning of Wednesday, July 4th.

Start off your Independence Day by completing a two-mile course on the tallest natural sand dune in the Eastern United States, starting at 8:30am. Attracting runners looking for a “unique” challenge, and drawing a very competitive field, participants are also welcome to walk the course instead (not just a “walk in the park” though).

A quarter-mile Fun Run will follow at 9:15am.

Presented by the Outer Banks Running Club, the race proceeds will benefit Friends of Jockey’s Ridge, a local non-profit dedicated to preserving & enhancing Jockey’s Ridge State Park.

The event will be timed by Mettle Timing and awards will be presented to all Finishers, the Top 3 Males and Top 3 Females overall, and the top 3 finishers in each Age Group.  Post-race refreshments available for all participants.

Online registration is open until Tuesday, July 3 at 12:00pm.  On-site registration may be available at packet pick up on Tuesday, July 3 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at Jockey’s Ridge State Park (Milepost 12; Highway 158) and on Race Day from 7:00am-8:00am if the event is not sold out.

Registration for the 2018 Killer Dunes 2-Miler & Fun Run can be found at  outerbanksrunningclub.org .
