Posted By on May 18, 2018

The official teaser trailer for the 3rd Annual Halloween International Film Festival, presented by OBX Entertainment and Halloween Daily News, has been released online, featuring clips from some of the independent films screened over the first two years of this event, which returns to Kill Devil Hills, on the Outer Banks, North Carolina, October 25-27, 2018.

This first preview of the 2018 film festival will be shown before R-rated and most PG13-rated movies playing at the R/C Theatres multiplex in Kill Devil Hills throughout this summer. It includes highlights from some of the films that were screened in previous years.

A second official trailer for the event will be released in September and will include clips from this year’s Official Selections to be screened at the festival.

Film submissions are currently being accepted for consideration to be included in this year’s film festival through FilmFreeway in either the short film or feature film categories.

The late deadline for submissions is June 30, and the final last call deadline is July 31.

All Festival film screenings will once again be shown at R/C Theatres Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills, including Q&A sessions, nightly meet and greets, photo ops on our Orange Carpet, and more events to be announced. Our state-of-the-art host venue features a massive 36-foot tall movie screen, stadium seating, full digital projection capabilities, and a complete lineup of refreshments and snacks available.

Details on discounted hotel rooms at the Sea Ranch Resort, located on the beach within walking distance and less than a minute’s drive from the theater, will be announced later this month.

In addition to the films from around the world, the film festival will also include special guest Q&As, meet-and-greets with the attending filmmakers and actors, and photo ops on our Orange Carpet.

The Halloween Film Festival will be followed by our 5th Annual Outer Banks Halloween Parade, the largest Halloween celebration in Dare County, on Sunday, Oct. 28. The new location of the parade will be announced in the coming weeks.

Held on the historic Outer Banks, where the Wright Brothers’ first flight took place, the Halloween International Film Festival is a pioneering event for visionary cinema artists, featuring three days of independent films from around the world, followed by the 5th Annual Halloween Parade of Costumes on Sunday, Oct. 28, where all attending filmmakers are invited as guests of honor.

The mission of the Halloween International Film Festival is to promote the artistry of independent films made in the spirit of creativity, support the future of cinema by providing exposure for talented visionary filmmakers, and celebrate a collective passion for Halloween. It is our goal to build the film industry on the Outer Banks, inspiring the attending filmmakers to bring future productions to the area while giving locally-based talents exposure to a wider, like-minded audience. It is a networking event for industry professionals, and a fan experience unlike any other in the region.

Known as the “land of beginnings”, the Outer Banks of North Carolina is the site of America’s first urban legend, The Lost Colony of Roanoke Island, the true story of the first English colonists to land in the new world only to mysteriously vanish without explanation in 1587.

The Outer Banks is also where the infamous pirate Blackbeard was killed and reportedly still haunts the small, isolated island of Ocracoke; and it is where the Wright Brothers launched mankind toward the stars with the first powered flight in 1903, in what is now the town of Kill Devil Hills.

Sponsors of the 2018 Halloween International Film Festival include the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, Gallop Funeral Services, Larry Hobbs, and the Outer Banks Sentinel.
