Posted By on May 17, 2018

The OBX Mystery Dinner has announced its 2018 production will be an original medieval-themed play called Once Upon a Crime, showing this summer at the Ramada Plaza in Kill Devil Hills.

With more than a hundred performances of comedy murder and mayhem under their belts, the cast and crew of the OBX Mystery Dinner are pulling out all the stops for their fifth season, including a venue change and an all-you-can-eat buffet.

“I’m excited to be moving the show to the Ramada Plaza Oceanfront,” said show producer Matt Marberry. “With this move we will have a larger performing space and our guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet. The management at the hotel has been incredibly supportive and I look forward to bringing our interactive show to this beautiful oceanfront setting.”

This year’s production is the medieval-themed Once Upon a Crime, set in the fictional Kingdom of Murdre. With gorgeous costumes, a hilarious script and a wacky cast, this year’s production promises to be a royal evening of food, fun, and entertainment.

The show opens on May 27 at the Ramada Plaza Oceanfront in Kill Devil Hills.

This season’s OBX Mystery Dinner is being performed by a well-seasoned cast featuring several actors who have performed in previous seasons, including Penelope Carroll, Tim Hass, Stuart Parks II, and Adrian Cardwell. Three new performers are joining the show this year – Savannah Mercer, Jared Eng-Hong, and understudy B.J. Keifer. The cast brings a wealth of Outer Banks theater experience with them, including past seasons of The Lost Colony and a long litany of productions for Theatre of Dare.

The show includes a four-course meal that is served by the actors, during which audience members can question the characters on their whereabouts and motives as they search for clues to figure out whodunit. Those who solve the murder earn a chance at an end-of-show prize, but everyone comes away with a full meal and an evening full of laughter and entertainment.

“This show is a great way for families gathering on the Outer Banks to come together for an night of fun.” said Marberry. “It’s a one-of-a-kind family-friendly interactive experience”

Once Upon a Crime runs through September 4 in the Ramada Plaza Oceanfront, located at 1701 South Virginia Dare Trail in Kill Devil Hills. For tickets and more information, please visit the OBX Mystery Dinner website at www.OBXMysteryDinner.com.
