UPDATE: Due to flooding, tonight’s (3/2/18) events at Roanoke Island Festival Park have been postponed. The Outer Banks Community Quilt Show’s opening reception has been rescheduled for Friday, March 9, from 6 to 8 pm. The show will open tomorrow morning (March 3) from 10am to 4pm.

Roanoke Island Festival Park is proud to announce the return of the Outer Banks Community Quilt Show and Raffle, running March 3– 17.

This year’s theme is “Priceless Pieces: Past & Present” and will feature handcrafted quilts presented by local and guest quilters who have a deep connection with the Outer Banks.

The exhibit will begin with an opening reception on Friday, March 2, from 6 to 8pm in the Event Room at Roanoke Island Festival Park. Guests can enjoy light refreshments and live music performed by students from the Calvino Student Music Exchange Program.

The quilt show will continue Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm and Saturdays 10am to 4pm through March 17.

The public is invited to attend both events free of charge. Guests can also enter to win this year’s prize quilt by purchasing raffle tickets throughout the show. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six tickets.

The Quilt Show has become an annual tradition at the park and offers local quilters a chance to showcase their work and share the story behind their designs. A variety of experienced quilters will be available to answer questions and explain the techniques they used to create their quilts.

Guests that are interested in purchasing quilting supplies are encouraged to attend Vendor Day on Saturday, March 10. Local vendors will be on-site from 10am to 4pm to offer quilting advice and sell their products.
