Outer Banks Weekend Movie Update – April 29, 2016: ‘Mother’s Day’ Comes Early

It’s Mother’s Day in theaters, with an action comedy for adults and a kid-friendly video game adaptation also opening this week, while the war between Batman and Superman continues at The Pioneer.

The epic superhero spectacle Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (rated PG13) continues at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, playing through May 5.

Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

Headline this week’s new releases is the all-star comedy Mother’s Day (rated PG13), from the director and team behind the similarly themed New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day, opens Friday at RC Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with a preview screening set for tonight (Thursday) at 7pm.

Starring Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, and Julia Roberts, you can check out the official trailer in the player below!

Also new this week, a classic video game is brought to life in the animated adventure Ratchet & Clank (rated PG), also opening Friday at RC Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with a preview screening set for tonight (Thursday) at 7:45pm.

For the grownups looking for a laugh this week, the action spoof comedy Keanu (rated R) opens on Friday at RC Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with a preview screening set for tonight (Thursday) at 7:40pm.

Starring the hilarious team of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, you can watch the official trailer in the player below!

RC Theatres and Fathom Events are also presenting a live screening of the New York Metropolitan Opera’s production of Elektra at 12:55pm this Saturday, April 30, and you can enter our contest to win tickets here!
