‘Walker, Texas Ranger’ Co-Stars Bring ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ To Outer Banks

Driving Miss Daisy is coming to the Outer Banks in February, live on stage and featuring two stars of the popular action drama Walker, Texas Ranger, in the roles made famous by Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman in the Oscar winning 1989 film adaptation.

Winner of the 1988 Pulitzer Prize and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Play, Driving Miss Daisy is a warm-hearted, humorous and affecting study of the unlikely relationship between an aging, crotchety white Southern lady, and a proud, soft-spoken black man.

With race relations in the news almost daily these days, this masterpiece of a play becomes ever more poignant.

The Bryan Cultural Series presentation of this long-running Off-Broadway success and Academy Award-winning film, produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service Inc., brings together two of TV’s most beloved co-stars.

Clarence Gilyard, who played Chuck Norris’ Texas Ranger partner in the 1990s hit show Walker, Texas Ranger and who co-starred with Andy Griffith in the 1980s crime drama Matlock, co-stars in the play with Sheree J. Wilson, who also starred on Walker, Texas Ranger as well as the landmark primetime soap Dallas.

The Bryan Cultural Series presents Driving Miss Daisy live on stage on Tuesday, February 16, at 7:30pm in the auditorium at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills.

Tickets are $15, on sale now at Duck’s Cottage Coffee & Books in Duck, Downtown Books in Manteo, Grays Dept. Store in Kitty Hawk, Sea Green Gallery in Nags Head, and online here.
