Thanks to funding from the North Carolina Film Office, the Wilmington-based Cucalorus Film Festival now has a new “Filmed in NC” grant that will offer a total of $10,000 for small movie projects by up and coming independent filmmakers in North Carolina.

TWC News reports that the grant will support small filmmakers, whose projects are under $250,000.

Cucalorus Executive Director Dan Brawley tells the outlet, “We’re excited. We think that this really hits home with the mission of Cucalorus, to support emerging talent, to be at stage one in identifying really talented, creative people.”

The grant application will be available on the Cucalorus web site on Dec. 1.

Applicants must be North Carolina residents or full-time college students in the state.

Cucalorus recently brought their Surfalorus Film Festival to the Outer Banks, with numerous screenings held in Manteo last month.
