Tidewater Comicon Brings Super Fun to Virginia Beach [Video / Photo Gallery]
The region’s biggest event of its kind returned to Virginia Beach this past weekend, as Tidewater Comicon took over the Virginia Beach Convention Center with two days of super powered fun for all ages.
Outer Banks local Laureta Linett (pictured below), of Grandy, attended both days of the comic book convention, roaming the crowded aisles as the villain Ursula from Disney’s The Little Mermaid. She said loved the attention her highly detailed costume got her, as she was constantly stopped and asked to be photographed by fans, which she enjoyed.
Laureta was joined by her husband Justin for Day 2 on Sunday, and they told us that it was a no-brainer to make the short drive from Currituck to Virginia Beach for such a unique and cool event.
In addition to dozens of comic book dealers, vendors selling rare collectibles, and the thousands of awesomely costumed cosplayers roaming the event, special celebrity guests included Kelly Hu (X-Men 2, The Scropion King, The Vampire Diaries, Arrow), Sam Huntington (Fanboys, Superman Returns, Not Another Teen Movie, Being Human), Meaghan Rath (Banshee, Secrets and Lies, Being Human), Sam Witwer (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Being Human, Tales of Halloween), and Chloe Dykstra (Heroes of Cosplay).
OBX Entertainment hit the road to bring you full coverage of both days, May 16-17, on location at the 2015 Tidewater Comicon, including interviews with Kelly Hu, Meaghan Rath, and Chloe Dyskstra, which you can look for later this week.
