For the ultimate taste of the beach, there is no better way to experience the many varieties of local cuisine than Outer Banks Restaurant Tours, featuring walking and driving tours to some of the finest locally owned and operated restaurants in the Outer Banks.

These innovative tours offer participants a one-of-a-kind opportunity to meet the area’s top restauranteurs and chefs to learn about what makes each restaurant unique.

Each restaurant tour visits five or six restaurants and markets that are in close proximity to each other.

The Duck Tour is a walking tour, but the others, in Corolla, Kitty Hawk, and Kill Devil Hills, are each driving tours on which participants are chauffeured from restaurant to restaurant.

The group gathers at a specified location and then proceeds together to each restaurant on the tour, where there will be a brief presentation by the owner or chef or manager, followed by a small sample of a signature dish paired with a tasting of wine or beer.

The tours each last approximately three to four hours, including meeting and travel time. At the conclusion of the tour, participants on the walking tour are on their own to do as they please, while those on the driving tours are transported back to the original meeting place.

Whether you are a first-time vacationer to the Outer Banks or a regular visitor that returns year after year, one of the available restaurant tours will most certainly whet your appetite for a delectable way to enhance your vacation. If you’re lucky enough to be a full time resident, you too can dig into what you’ve been missing.

The restaurant tours run from mid-May through the end of September, and 2015 tours are now booking

Prices per person are around $60, which basically the price of a dinner at one restaurant, though you will get the opportunity to sample the offerings at five or more restaurants and markets during this informative, fun-filled, and delicious culinary experience.

In addition to the restaurant tours, you can also sign up for a Beer Tour or a Winery Tour, as well as in-home chef services and cooking classes.

You can also sign up for a barbecue demo class, where you will learn about the correct ways to set up and use charcoals and smokers, how to trim various meats for BBQ, and how to use rubs and sauces to cook them. At the end of the class, you get treated to four different BBQ meats and various sides to eat.
