Outer Banks Forum presents Windsync in concert at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills on March 28, 2015.

Be mesmerized by Windsync, hailed by the Houston Chronicle as “revolutionary chamber musicians.” This talented young group has distinguished itself among classical music ensembles as North America’s foremost emerging wind quintet.

The award-winning ensemble is recognized internationally for dramatic and adventurous programming in venues ranging from concert halls to museums, universities and schools.  The young, energetic group plays exclusively from memory, including elements of staging and choreography, and focuses on building connections with audiences through dynamic concert programming and charismatic stage presence.

Garrett Hudson plays the flute. He is known for his charismatic stage presence and highly personal voice on the flute.  The young Canadian emerged at the age of 16 in a solo debut with the Winnipeg Symphony.  Before beginning a dynamic career as an international soloist, instructor, orchestral and chamber musician, Garrett held positions in some of North America’s leading professional training orchestras.

Erin Tsai plays oboe.  Born in Taipei, Taiwan, raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, she has performed in symphony orchestras, chamber music concerts, and solo recitals in North America, Europe, and Asia.  At the age of 16, she won first place, in open age group, in both the Federation of Canadian Music Festival and the Canada Music Competition.

A native of Chicago, clarinetist Jack Marquardt  enjoys an active and versatile career in a variety of musical settings.  In addition to WindSync, Marquardt is a member of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, has performed in an array of major musical settings and won soloist competitions.  A fierce advocate of new music, Jack has collaborated with many leading composers of our time.

Born in Summit, New Jersey, bassoonist Tracy Jacobson is a founding member of WindSync.  She studied bassoon at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and The Juilliard School’s pre-college program.  Tracy has played with professional orchestras, chamber groups, and new music ensembles around North America, Europe and Asia.

Born on the coast of California and raised in Las Vegas, Anni Hochhalter began playing the French horn in 7th grade and has never looked back.  Her initial passion for music was fostered by her song-bird mother, given shape by her classical training in ballet. In 2010, she became a member of WindSync and has found her creative niche, crafting unique shows and performing.

Windsync’s awards include: the 2012 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh International Competition, the Sylvia Ann Hewlett Adventurous Artist Prize and numerous performance prizes from the CAG competition, including the ensemble’s New York debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.  Windsync is strongly committed to educational enrichment and promoting arts engagement.

The Outer Banks Forum presents Windsync in concert in the auditorium at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills on Saturday, March 28.

Showtime is 7:30pm.
