A new concert event is coming to the Outer Banks in May, featuring Greensky Bluegrass and Roadkill Ghost Choir performing live.

The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau has announced a new event that will celebrate tourism on the Outer Banks. Soundside Live will take place at the Outer Banks Event Site on May 7 and is expected to grow into a re-occurring series. The inaugural event will feature nationally touring artists Greensky Bluegrass and Roadkill Ghost Choir on the Main Stage, delicious food and beverage and a wonderful evening on the Roanoke Sound.

In a recent review from South Carolina-based Garden and Gun Magazine, Greensky Bluegrass was said to be “one of the most unsung acts, relying on word of mouth about its white-hot live shows. The Greensky guys fall back on impeccable playing, mixing varied arrangements with a grittier sensibility.”

Named one of the “Top 50 Bands to Watch” by Rolling Stone Magazine and hot off of an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, Roadkill Ghost Choir “conjures up evocatively spooky late-night vibes even though they’re playing in broad-daylight.”

Soundside Live is being produced by Hype Promotions under an event-specific contract with the Visitors Bureau.

“With the re-opening of the Event Site and National Tourism Week happening at the same time, the May 7th date seemed like a great chance to bring everybody together and celebrate tourism on the Outer Banks,” says Lee Nettles, Executive Director of the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau. “Dare County tourism is almost a billion dollar industry and employs one-in-three residents, but it’s also just about enjoying the place where you live. We hope folks will join us at the Soundside for some fantastic music and a toast to the 2015 season.”

A limited number of early bird pre-sale tickets go on sale today at 12 noon for $15 and may be purchased through the event website at soundsidelive.com. Once pre-sale tickets sell out, prices will increase to $20. More information on Soundside Live, including sponsorship, vending, and volunteer opportunities, may also be found on the event website.
