Dare Arts Council Partners With Motu Music Foundation

Posted By on November 1, 2014

The Motu Music Foundation believes in the power of music and how it can transform a community.

Motu means “Island” in the New Zealand aboriginal language of the Maori. Like the people of New Zealand, music is an integral part of the community here on the Outer Banks.

Motu has emerged from a vision of the Dare County Arts Council.  The Community Music School, a program of DCAC,  was created to make music accessible to children in Dare County. The Dare County Arts Council is partnering with Motu to further that vision and expand its reach throughout the Outer Banks.

Whatever your age, whatever your musical interest, there is a place for you in Motu. The hope is to create a center that is the heart of our musical culture.

Your passion is the mission of Motu.

To find out more about the mission and how you can help, come to the Motu Backyard Party hosted by Roadside Bar and Grill in Duck on Sunday, November 9 from 2 to 5pm, where you can also enjoy some great food, a raffle and hear the students play.
