Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo has announced the dates of the Outer Banks Community Quilt Show, which will be on exhibit inside the park’s Art Gallery in March.

The quilt show is sponsored by the Outer Banks Quilters and will feature antique and new quilts on display.

The collection is drawn from quilt makers or quilt owners attached to the Eastern, North Carolina region.

The exhibition features full-sized and mini quilts.

Past shows have seen examples of quilts ranging in date from the 19th to the 21st Century.

Traditional patterns are used on many quilts, as viewers will witness a range of themes and techniques including quilting, embroidery, and appliqué.

The Outer Banks Community Quilt Show will be on exhibit inside the Art Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday and from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays, March 8-22.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 7, from 6 to 8pm.

The show and reception are free and open to the public.

The Outer Banks Community Quilt Show is coming to Roanoke Island Festival Park March 7-22, 2014.
