Each workshop features different styles of bracelets and participants may sign up for one or both sessions.

The cost is $70 for either the morning or afternoon session, or $110 for both workshops. Preregistration is required. Both workshops will be held at Dare County Arts Council, 300 Queen Elizabeth Avenue in downtown Manteo.

Students will learn how to make different styles of bracelets using wire and beads.

Techniques learned in this class can be used in a variety of beading and metalsmithing projects. Each student should go home with at least one completed project and handouts with photos.

All the wire, beads, and tools needed are included in workshop price. There will be lots of different bead colors and styles to choose from when making beaded bracelets.

Additional supplies that will be provided for each student include handouts (to take home), tool set w/ round nose, flat nose, chain nose pliers, and pair of cutters, a nail file for sanding end of wire, a wide variety of beads, a working mat, wire in 16, 14, 20, 24 gauges, hammers to share, samples for inspiration, and cups for holding beads.

Instructor Valda Belyeu is a professional artist living in Washington, NC who creates her own personal style by working with sterling silver wire, beads, and her own handcrafted porcelain pieces and pendants to create one-of-a kind organic shapes in her jewelry.

She finds balance between curves of the wire, open spaces and the twisting and turning inspirations of life, nature, and color.

The Dare County Arts Council will present this Bracelet Making Workshop with artist Valda Belyeu on Saturday, January 25.

There will be two workshops on this day one from 9:30 am to 12:30pm and also from 1:30 to 4:30pm at the Arts Council Gallery in Manteo.
