Christmas is always a busy time in movie theaters, and this week is no exception with a total four new releases opening locally today and tomorrow.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for this extended holiday weekend of December 25, 2013!
’47 Ronin’ will take over theaters starting on Christmas Day.
Playing at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (rated PG13) continues a two-week run through January 2.

Headlining this week’s new releases is the boxing comedy Grudge Match, starring Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, Rambo) and Robert DeNiro (Raging Bull, Goodfellas), opening Wednesday, Dec. 25, at R/C KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.

Also new this week, Keanu Reeves (The Matrix) makes an explosive return to the action-adventure genre in the samurai tale 47 Ronin (rated PG13), premiering tonight (Tuesday) at 8pm and officially opening tomorrow in Kill Devil Hills.

The classic book comes to life when Ben Stiller (Meet the Parents) plays the title character in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (rated PG), premiering today at 4:25 and 7:05pm and officially starting tomorrow in Kill Devil Hills.
