Major and the Monbacks Landing In Nags Head [Concert Preview]

Posted By on November 25, 2013

Self described as “the newest torch bearers of the old Norfolk sound,” Virginia’s Major and the Monbacks will make their Outer Banks debut live in concert this December.

Major and the Monbacks

Following a long line of musicians with a sound that bridges the gap between the R&B of Gary U.S. Bonds, the rockabilly of Gene Vincent, and the modern garage pop of Dr. Dog, The Monbacks have created an exciting new brew of rock and soul.

With four vocalists, a hype-man, and a lively horn section, Major and his Monbacks pride themselves in having revived the party-infused energy of southern soul, blending this old school style with danceable pop melodies, ska, and soul horn riffs, invoking stirring visions of Otis Redding or Chuck Berry playing a beer-soaked fraternity party.

You can see Major and the Monbacks live at Kelly’s in Nags Head on Saturday, December 21.

Showtime is at 10pm.
