Weekend Movie Update – July 19, 2013: ‘Conjuring’ Scares From NC

The scariest movie of the year – filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, arrives theaters this week, along with the latest adventure from DreamWorks, the newest fighters of the undead, and a new Bruce Willis action comedy sequel, while zombies attack The Pioneer.

Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the very busy weekend of July 19, 2013!

It’s up to Brad Pitt (12 Monkeys, Interview with the Vampire) to save the planet when zombies attack in the new action thriller World War Z, (rated PG13) opening at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.

Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

Also starring James Badge Dale (Iron Man 3), Matthew Fox (Lost), and Mireille Enos (Gangster Squad), you can watch the latest trailer using the player below!

Leading this week’s new releases is the supernatural horror film The Conjuring (rated R), filmed in Wilmington, NC, from the director of Saw and Insidious, James Wan, opening tomorrow (Thursday) at 8pm at R/C KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.

Starring Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel) and Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) as real life paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren, The Conjuring (originally known as The Warren Files) is based on the true story of the Perron family, who called the Warrens to help them with their Rhode Island home, which they believed to be haunted, in the 1970s.

DreamWorks has a new family adventure opening in theaters today (Wednesday) about a snail who dreams of racing across the finish line to glory in the animated Turbo (rated PG), also playing at R/C KDH Movies 10.

Also new in theaters this week, Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski) drafts Ryan Renolds (Green Lantern) into the Rest In Peace Department in the new action comedy R.I.P.D. (rated PG13) starting Friday at R/C KDH Movies 10.

Finally, it’s a reunion of retired assassins in RED 2 (rated PG13), starring Bruce Willis (The Sixth Sense), John Malkovich (Crossbones), Helen Mirren (Monsters University), and Mary-Louise Parker (Christmas in Conway).
