Weekend Movie Update – May 31, 2013: ‘Earth’ and Magic

Magicians play Robin Hood, as Will Smith and his real life son find a very different Earth in theaters this week, while the biggest blockbuster ever filmed in North Carolina arrives at The Pioneer.

Marvel and Disney’s highly anticipated Iron Man 3 (rated PG13), filmed largely in and around Wilmington, North Carolina, opens at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.

Starring Robert Downey Jr. (Chaplin), Gwyneth Paltrow (Seven), Don Cheadle (Ocean’s Eleven), Ben Kingsley (Ghandi), Guy Pearce (Prometheus), and Rebecca Hall (The Town), you can check out the most recent official theatrical trailer in the player below, and then click here to read our review of Iron Man 3!

Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

Headlining this week’s new releases is After Earth (rated PG13), premiering with a special preview screening on Thursday at 9:30pm at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills and opening on Friday.

Also new this week, the thriller Now You See Me (rated PG13), about a group of magicians who use their talents to rob banks and then give the money away to their audiences, starts Friday at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.
