Gangsters and demons possess theaters this week, while Disney’s latest live action family film arrives at The Pioneer.

Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of August 31, 2012!

The Odd Life of Timothy Green (rated PG) opens at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.

Starring Jennifer Garner (Daredevil, Elektra) and Joel Edgerton (The Thing, Star Wars: Episode III), the film is an emotional story of two hopeful parents who find the perfect son …in their garden.

The period drama Lawless (rated R), starring Shia Labeouf (Transformers) and Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), leads this week’s new releases, opening today (Wednesday) at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.

The cast also includes Guy Pearce (Prometheus), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), and Jessica Chastain (The Help).

Based on a true story, The Possession (rated PG13) takes over theaters starting this Friday, August 31, playing in Kill Devil Hills.
