Wilksboro, NC native Zach Galifianakis stars with Will Ferrell as two North Carolina politicians competing for office in ‘The Campaign’.

 The year’s most anticipated movie has remained number one at the box office for three straight weeks and now The Dark Knight Rises (rated PG13) opens at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo, starting this Friday for a one week run.

The all-star cast includes Christian Bale (The Fighter, American Psycho), Gary Oldman (Bram Stoker’s Dracula), Morgan Freeman (Driving Miss Daisy), Michael Caine (The Prestige), Tom Hardy (Inception), and Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada).

Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

Leading this week’s new releases, Wilksboro, NC native Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover, Due Date) returns to theaters with Will Ferrell (Elf, Anchorman) as two rival North Carolina poiticians in a heated and hilarious contest for a seat on the U.S. House of Representatives in The Campaign (rated R), opening Friday at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.

The cast for the timely political comedy from director Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, Austin Powers) also includes Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters), John Lithgow (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Brian Cox (Manhunter), Jack McBrayer (NBC’s 30 Rock), Dylan McDermott (F/X’s American Horror Story), Sarah Baker (Sweet Home Alabama), and SNL‘s Jason Sudeikis (who is currently shooting We’re the Millers with Jennifer Aniston in Wilmington, NC).

Also new in theaters this week, Jeremy Renner (The Avengers, The Hurt Locker) takes over for Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity) in the fourth entry in the popular Bourne action franchise.

Also starring Rachel Weisz (The Mummy), Edward Norton (The Incredible Hulk), Scott Glenn (Sucker Punch), and Stacy Keach (Escape from L.A.), The Bourne Legacy (rated PG13) starts this week at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills and Hatteras Movies 4 in Avon.

Finally, the comedy drama Hope Springs (rated PG13), starring Meryl Streep (Out of Africa, The Devil Wears Prada), Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive, Captain America), and Steve Carell (The 40 Year Old Virgin), opened yesterday (Wednesday) at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.

The film is about a middle-aged couple that attends an intense week of counseling to work on their relationship after being married for 30 years.
