[UPDATED 7/27/12] – Due to overwhelming response, this event has been rescheduled for Saturday, AUGUST 25, 2012.

America’s largest country music talent search is coming to Nags Head this month!

The Texaco Music Showcase comes to Kelly's August 25.

Currently in its 30th year, the Texaco Country Showdown has helped put hard working undiscovered musicians like Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, and Brad Paisley on the road to stardom, and now they are looking for the next big star to take home this year’s $100,000 grand prize.

As many as 100,000 acts compete annually in the Country Showdown, which is considered to be the largest country music talent competition in America.

In addition to Brooks, Keith, and Paisley, other former contestants include Carrie Underwood, Billy Ray Cyrus, Leann Rimes, Tim McGraw, and Martina McBride.

If you think you have what it takes to be the next winner, send a three-minute or less demo as an mp3 to showdown@ecri.net, or you can drop off a CD at the Dixie 105.7 radio studios located at 2422 South Wrightsville Avenue in Nags Head.

From the submitted entries, contestants will be chosen for the preliminary competition set for Saturday, July 28 AUGUST 25 from 3 to 6pm at Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern in Nags Head. Admission is free.
