OBX Weekend Movie Update – May 11, 2012

Director Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp’s eighth cinematic collaboration threatens to cast some dark shadows on the box office record-breaking success of The Avengers, while the 94-year-old Pioneer Theatre hosts the latest Nicholas Sparks romance. 

Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of May 11, 2012!

Dark Shadows

The romantic drama The Lucky One (rated PG13), starring Zac Efron (High School Musical, starts Friday at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo.

Showtime at The Pioneer is 8pm nightly.

You can watch a trailer for the film, which is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks that is set (but not filmed) in North Carolina, in the player below!

The only new release of the week is Tim Burton’s reboot of the cult classic soap opera Dark Shadows (rated PG13), opening Friday at KDH Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills.

The gothic comedy stars the director’s favorite muse, Johnny Depp as centuries old vampire Barnabas Collins, who awakens after 400 years in the 1970s, complete with lava lamps, McDonald’s, and Alice Cooper. You can check out the theatrical trailer in the player below!
