Many of the horror fans who attended this past weekend’s ‘Blood on the Beach’ convention in Virginia Beach will be excited to know that genre icon Danielle Harris (Halloween 4-5, Halloween 2007, Halloween II ’09) CONFIRMED to OBX Entertainment that she is in fact set to return in the upcoming slasher sequel Hatchet III.
Harris told us exclusively that her next project will be the much anticipated second sequel to director Adam Green’s 2006 gorefest Hatchet, adding that filming is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
“I’m excited to be starting Hatchet III next,” Harris told us on Sunday. “It’s going to be great.”
The lead character of ‘Marybeth’ was originally played by Tamara Feldman in the first film, before genre favorite Harris stepped into the role for the 2009 sequel. It was announced earlier this year that B.J. McDonnell would take over directing duties for the first time in this third installment, as Green will stay on as writer and executive producer.
All of the Hatchet films co-star fellow horror icon Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th Parts 7-10), who was also scheduled to be in Virginia Beach for the convention this past weekend, but had to cancel when a last minute call had him filming an episode of the television series The Mentalist on Saturday, according to Hodder’s management.
Filming of Hatchet III will then be followed by the release of Harris’ own directorial debut, Among Friends, which she teased is likely to be available on DVD in the fall, following some festival screenings this summer.
OBX Entertainment talked to Harris at length about Among Friends and her other recent and upcoming projects, including The Victim, directed by another Blood on the Beach guest, actor Michael Biehn (The Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, Tombstone, Grindhouse), and we will have the full interview up for you in the next few days!
